2025 Historic Preservation Design Guidelines

2025 Historic Preservation Plan

Local Historic Design Guidelines and National Secretary of the Interior's Standards

Local historic design guidelines and national preservation standards provide a basis for making decisions about the appropriate treatment of historic resources and compatible new construction. They also serve as a planning tool for property owners and their design professionals who seek to make improvements that may affect historic resources. Property owners are strongly encouraged to enlist the assistance of qualified design and planning professionals, including architects and preservation consultants.

All properties determined to be an Eligible Resource are encouraged to follow the city's local Historic Design Guidelines.

All properties listed on the local Steamboat Springs Register of Historic Places are required to follow the local Historic Design Guidelines and the national Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation
