Within the last several years, the City of Steamboat Springs has conducted nearly 500 architectural and historical inventories of properties in Old Town Steamboat Springs. The city has conducted the inventories on properties that are generally 50 years old or older.
The purpose of the inventory is to notify property owners and citizens of the historical significance of these buildings, encourage historic landmarking of properties, inform owners of the financial benefits of listing their properties on a historic register and research the potential of historic districts in downtown Steamboat Springs. The information is also pertinent for staff and the City’s Historic Preservation Advisory Commission when making decisions on building permits and planning projects.
