The City of Steamboat has published the final November 2017 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. (See the Full Report.) The November 2017 Mountain Communities Report is also available. (See the Mountain Communities.)

The City of Steamboat has published the final November 2017 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. City of Steamboat Springs’ November sales taxes are 5.44% more compared to the November 2016 collections or an increase of $74,614. November collections represent about 6% of annual collections. Year to date sales tax collection is 3.85% more than year to date through November 2016.

When comparing this November to the prior November, the greatest categorical increases were in lodging and amenities at 14.06% and utilities at 12.21%. Notable increases in collections by area were 24.27% for the Regional area and 5.36% for the Highway 40 corridor area.

Accommodation Tax, with the passing of referendum 2A, is now primarily dedicated to local trail projects and Yampa Street improvements. Additionally, a small amount is dedicated towards the marketing of these projects and capital improvements at Haymaker. November collections saw an increase of 14.38% compared to November 2016.

Building Use Tax is used to fund capital projects for the City of Steamboat Springs. This tax fluctuates depending on building permits issued, use tax audits completed, and the size and number of developments in the City. November 2017 use tax collections are $86,930 more compared to November 2016. Year to date use tax collections are $847,729 more through the same period last year or up 58%.
