Steamboat Radio will broadcast live coverage of City Council meetings on its new, Bloomberg news station, KKSB-FM, 105.7, starting January 16, 2018.

“The idea had been on our dial, so to say, for a while,” said Don Tlapek, Steamboat Radio owner. “With the launch of our new station, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to air council meetings and provide valuable news content to our radio listeners.”

Steamboat Radio’s new station is a 24-hour, Bloomberg-news station covering local, national and international news; business and financial information and analysis; traffic, weather and sports updates; and talk shows.
With the start of the New Year, City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday evenings in Centennial Hall starting at 5pm on January 16 and 23 and February 6, 13 & 27, 2018.  Agendas and meeting packets can be found at Typically, the first and third meeting of the month are regular sessions, with the second week utilized as a work session.

The city is facing some significant issues in the coming year including annexation, downtown development and master planning, Howelsen Hill and fiscal sustainability to name a few. Through the partnership with Steamboat Radio, residents will have another means to stay informed on these important topics.

Community engagement is a priority for council and one of its goals for the coming year. The live council meeting broadcast joins other programs such as, the city’s engagement website for several ongoing plans and projects; OpenGov, a portal to municipal finances and performance; Coffee with Council and Farmer’s Market informal settings; social media channels including Facebook and Twitter; emailing council with concerns or issues; and, local cable coverage on TV-6 as ways for residents to connect with council.

Steamboat Radio Group, home of KBCR 96.9 FM, KBWZ 100.5 FM, KEZZ 94.1 FM, KKSB 105.7 FM and KTYV, 98.9 FM, offers a variety of musical genres on its stations from country to real rock to light rock as well as news, talk and sports show as well as live coverage of Steamboat Springs High School sports and the Steamboat Wranglers hockey team.
