Steamboat Springs Airport Manager, Stacie Fain, was promoted to the rank of Captain in the United States Coast Guard Reserve and recently acquired certification by American Association of Airport Executives.

“Steamboat Springs is a special place and the airport is definitely a gem in the mountain region,” said Fain. “To be able to serve my country is extremely rewarding; but serving my local community is truly an honor and something I’m thankful for every day at the airport.”

In addition to her civilian duties, Captain Fain serves the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves in the Joint Operations Division Americas advising the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff on operations and events in North and South America. She provides subject matter expertise in the air and maritime domains.

This past November, Fain also became a Certified Member of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). AAAE is the world's largest professional organization for airport executives, representing thousands of airport management personnel at public-use commercial and general aviation airports.  AAAE's members represent some 850 airports and hundreds of companies and organizations that support airports.

Fain holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Va. Tech). She graduated from Officer Candidate School in Yorktown, Virginia, in 1993.  She has a Master of Aeronautical Science degree and is a Distinguished Graduate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she is currently a Ph.D. in Aviation candidate.

Fain joined the city in September 2016 and currently oversees the Steamboat Springs Airport. The general aviation facility is owned and operated by the City of Steamboat Springs and sees more than 7,200 operations per year, including private and recreational, as well as corporate and business based and transient airplanes and helicopters.  The airport also hosts frequent transient military aircraft.
