Starting July 15, the Steamboat Springs City Council will host a booth at the Farmers Market where a special guest joins available council members every Saturday in staffing the city booth.
This week’s guest will be Gary Suiter, who recently completed his first year as City Manager for the City of Steamboat Springs. During this first year, Suiter has worked to improve community trust, build transparency and direct efforts focused on a community vision for Howelsen Hill, a new combined law enforcement facility, a downtown improvement plan, as well as a long-term fiscal sustainability and water plan.
Going forward, the goal is to have various city departments, other elected officials and organizations associated with a particular topic of community interest participate in the booth with council over the remainder of the summer. The City Council stand will be located in stall #48 and is staffed from 9am to 11am during the Farmers Market, which runs every Saturday through September 16.
This is an informal way to meet council members, ask a question and discuss areas of interest. It has evolved into a popular opportunity for residents to interact with council members in a relaxed atmosphere similar to ‘Coffee with Council’ and ‘Cocktails with Council’.
