[ARCHIVED] Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Scheduled For Second 2A Trail

The U.S. Forest Service, the City of Steamboat Springs and the 2A Trails Committee will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, July 15, to officially open and announce the name of the second 2A trail on Buffalo Pass.

The special event will take place at 12:45PM during the Steamboat Farmers Market (7th and Yampa Streets) with representatives from the US Forest Service, City of Steamboat Springs, Bike Town USA, Routt County Riders, the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund and the 2A Trail Committee.

The new scenic trail begins and ends near the top of Spring Creek trial, approximately a 1-¼ mile from the Dry Lake parking lot. This beginner-level trail features a gradual grade, and 360-degree vistas at the top and appeals to all levels whether interested in a stunning view at the end of an epic adventure or a rewarding leisurely stroll from the parking lot.  The new trail was constructed in partnership with the City of Steamboat Springs Accommodation Tax and Routt County Riders.

In 2013, Referendum 2A was passed by local voters, repurposing a large portion of a municipal accommodation tax to develop area trails. Amounting to $5.1 million dollars over a ten-year period, it’s a significant investment that’s shared with visitors and locals alike. The 2A Trails Steering Committee was established to plan and prioritize the trails projects. For the most up-to-date information from the committee, click here.
