The City of Steamboat Springs today launched a new digital platform in partnership with OpenGov, the leader in government performance management, to strengthen the connection between government and community members; provide measurable, meaningful and real-time data; and, enhance access to financial and performance information.
“One of the goals of City Council is to improve community trust,” said Gary Suiter, City of Steamboat Springs City Manager. “This platform does that and much more. It allows residents to gain a greater understanding of city data on a variety of levels and will be a valuable internal resource as well.”
The platform, powered by OpenGov’s Smart Government Cloud
TM allows residents to track government spending and also makes it easier for public officials to share complex financial and performance data in simple, understandable reports. Steamboat Springs’ OpenGov platform can be viewed at www.steamboatsprings.net/opengov.
The new platform empowers government officials and staff to conduct better analysis and performance measurement by improving access to key financial data. Steamboat Springs, joins a growing number of local governments nationwide who rely on OpenGov’s next generation cloud software to share vital data and financial information. Over 1,500 public agencies in 48 states are part of the growing OpenGov network including 19 in Colorado.
Residents can view both monthly and annual financial reports from 2014 to the 2017 budget through interactive graphs, may also search transactions by vendor and type, and even monitor city energy consumption across various facilities. For example, users may answer frequently asked questions such as “What are the City’s capital projects?” or “How much does the City receive in taxes and assessments? and then share that information directly from the platform via email or on social media.
“We’re excited to partner with Steamboat Springs to harness the power of technology to increase government effectiveness and accountability,” said OpenGov CEO Zac Bookman. “Whether purchasing office supplies or funding a major infrastructure project, public officials will be able to easily report and track financial information, and local residents will be able to see how their tax dollars are being spent.”
