The enrollment period has been reopened for the Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue (SSFR) 2017 Fire Academy. Applications for this year’s program will be accepted until Thursday, June 1, 2017.
SSFR is a combination fire department with full-time, part-time and reserve firefighter/EMTs and firefighter/paramedics serving the citizens of the City of Steamboat Springs and the surrounding Rural Fire Protection District.
The Fire Academy has been set up to provide rigorous entry level training for individuals interested in a profession in the fire service. When SSFR has openings for full-time, part-time or reserve positions, individuals who have successfully completed the SSFR Fire Academy are eligible to apply and will be considered in the applicant pool.
The 2017 Fire Academy will be conducted Wednesday evenings and all day on Saturdays from June thru October 2017. Applicants must meet the following criteria and submit the following materials to be considered for the academy.
Applicant criteria:
- Be twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in U.S.
- Must possess and keep a valid driver’s license.
