The City of Steamboat Springs 2A trails committee will host a 2A Trails Project Open House on Tuesday, May 30 in partnership with the US Forest Service and the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund.
The happy hour event will provide updates on completed 2A funded trail projects, 2A funded trail construction on Buffalo Pass in summer 2017 and 2018, and the upcoming US Forest Service’s NEPA planning process, which will determine new trail opportunities in the Mad Creek, Rocky Peak, and Rabbit Ears Pass areas. In addition, the names selected as finalists for the new 2A trail on Buffalo Pass will be displayed and votes will be accepted during this time.
Mountain Tap Brewery (910 Yampa St, #103) brews up ideas and conversation along with plenty of refreshments during the open house outlining the future of trails in Steamboat Springs centered on the 2A community efforts. The open house will run from 5 to 7 PM.
In November of 2013, the voters of Steamboat Springs approved a portion of the municipal accommodations tax to develop trails. Over the next ten years $5.1 million dollars are planned to be invested in trail infrastructure across Steamboat Springs. A committee, made up of Steamboat Springs residents, is prioritizing the expenditures of this investment.
