Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue has been granted the opportunity to utilize a duplex property, located at 2573/2575 Riverside Drive, for fire training activities over the coming month.
“Training under real-life conditions provides a tremendous advantage for firefighters and what they can expect to experience during a real situation,” said Deputy Chief Chuck Cerasoli. “Opportunities like this don’t come along often and we’re grateful to be able to train on-site through the owner’s generosity.”
The department plans to conduct for a variety of training exercises approximately 3 to 4 times a week at the site over the next three to four weeks. Training will take place between the hours of 9am and 5pm and could start as early as Sunday, May 14th.
While there will be no flames or active fire during any of the training sessions, non-hazardous training smoke may be evident at times, along with increased emergency activity in the area, including vehicles and apparatus.
The department has notified adjacent residents of the upcoming training and does not anticipate impacts to traffic flows in the Riverside neighborhood. In addition, Fire Department Training signage will be placed along the roadway identifying the event strictly as a training exercise.
If individuals have questions or concerns, please contact Deputy Chief, Chuck Cerasoli at the Mountain Fire Station at 970-879-7170.
