[ARCHIVED] Construction Update for Yampa & Oak Streets-4/7/2017

Phase I of the Yampa Street Improvements project is currently underway in the area of 6th and Yampa Streets.  Construction activities will continue thru May, with a Phase 1 completion estimated by no later than mid-June.

Improvements on Oak Street are anticipated to begin on Monday, April 10th, weather and conditions permitting. Initial efforts will concentrate around the parking lot at 8th and Oak Streets as well as the 7th and Oak Streets intersection.

YAMPA STREET-Week of April 10th
Riverbank stabilization work near Workman & Lyon’s Parks along the Yampa River is expected to wrap up during the first part of next week (April 10-14), which will allow river access to reopen in this area.  The closure of a few public parking spaces along Ski Town Lions Park (Yampa Street between 5th and 6th) remains in effect until work is completed.

RIMG3224_TU b_thumb_thumb.jpg6th Street along the Bank of the West frontage (between Yampa St. & the alley) moves ahead with the removal of existing sidewalk and construction of a new sidewalk including new street lighting and landscaping. This portion of the project is expected to be active until April 17 and requires a closure of parking spaces along 6th Street adjacent to Bank of the West. However, the bank drive-thru remains open and accessible from Yampa St. and alley.

YAMPA STREET-Week of April 17th
Following completion of the Bank of the West frontage and around the week of April 17th, crews will move between 6th and 7th Streets on Yampa, finishing work from 2016. This section requires a closure between 6th and 7th Streets; however, all interesctions will remain open and pedestrian routes will provide for safe navigation around the closure.

Phase II, which is concentrated between 9th and 12th streets including the side-streets of 11th and 12th, is scheduled to begin in late April. Additional information will be provided ahead of the start of Phase II.

OAK STREET - Week of April 10th

Construction activities at Oak & 8th Streets kick off with storm sewer installation and demo work allowing for streetscape installation. Parking closures will go into effect along both streets; however, the center of the parking lot will remain open as work allows.

Later that week, storm sewer improvements at the intersection crossing 7th Street on the north and south sides of Oak Street are anticipated to start. 7th Street will be closed for one day for each crossing with this work. Currently, closures are expected on the north side on April 13th and on the south side on April 14th. Motorists should use alternative routes such as 6th & 8th Streets and 5th & 7th Streets during this time.

Maintaining access to all businesses is a priority. Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. Please respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas. Construction hours run from 7am-7pm Monday through Thursday; 7am-5pm on Fridays; and 8am-4pm on Saturday (if necessary).
