Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue (SSFR) was dispatched to 404 Alpine Court for the report of a Chimney Fire.  SSFR responded with 7 on-duty personnel staffing Engine 6-1, Ambulance 6-2, Truck 6-2, and Staff 6-2 and were assisted by Steamboat Springs Police Department.  Upon arrival on scene Incident Commander Brian Shively reported nothing showing from the exterior however the chimney was still smoking on the inside of the residence.

Upon arrival on scene entry was made in to the residence.  Crews using a Thermal imaging camera checked the attic space and chimney chase to ensure that the fire had not spread from the fireplace and the chimney.  After determining that the fire had not spread from the fireplace and chimney crews used ventilation fans to clear any remaining smoke from the residence.

Damage to the residence is considered minimal requiring only minor repair to the chimney chase.  SSFR would like to remind residents to have their chimney regularly cleaned to decrease the risk of chimney fires.  Regular cleaning had been done by the residents so the cause of this fire is unknown.  For further questions please contact FF/Paramedic Brian Shively at 970-879-7170.  There are no images for this press release.
