[ARCHIVED] City of Steamboat Springs Hires Communications Manager

The City of Steamboat Springs is pleased to announce that Mike Lane has been hired as the Communications Manager for the city.  This is a new position for the city that was created by City Manager Gary Suiter with the goals of improving community trust and citizen engagement. 

City Manager Gary Suiter noted, “The City of Steamboat Springs is committed to transparency and community engagement, and I believe that Mike has the experience and expertise to help us in these areas.  I look forward to working with Mike as he evolves our ability to proactively get information out to the public while actively working to engage community members in their city government.”

 Mr. Lane has lived in Steamboat Springs for over 22 years and has extensive experience in public relations and communications, including 20 years of working with the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation.  His experience includes spearheading public relations, communications, and social media, managing brand identity and reputation, developing community relations programs, and carrying out PIO and crisis communications activities.  In addition, Mr. Lane is an involved Steamboat Springs community member who has volunteered for the Yampa Valley Community Foundation, Steamboat Chamber Resort Association, Ski/Ride 4 Yellow, Sunshine Kids, and STARS.

Mr. Lane will start working for the city on December 19, 2016.
