Construction of the Yampa Street Improvements Project began May 23 and Oak Street work began September 6. Both projects will continue the week of October 10.
YAMPA STREET UPDATE:
CLOSURE WEEK OF OCTOBER 10: Continuing on Monday, October 10, Yampa Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between 6th and 8th Streets, including both the 6th and 7th Street intersections. The 8th Street intersection has been reopened to vehicular traffic. Portions of the sidewalk on the south side of Yampa will be closed intermittently and pedestrians will be routed around the sidewalk closure throughout the week. A pedestrian crossing corridor will remain open between 7th and 8th Streets and a second pedestrian crossing cooridor will be created in the 6th to 7th Street block during the week. The public parking lot at 7th and Yampa Street will remain open but only accessible from 7th Street.
Maintaining access to all businesses is a priority. Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas. Shoppers and visitors are reminded that additional nearby parking is available at the 10th and Yampa Street parking lot, Rodeo Grounds parking lot and Howelsen Hill parking lots, with easy access to Yampa Street over the 9th or 5th Street bridges.
Construction work hours are from 7am to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 7am – 5pm on Fridays. Construction work on Saturdays will continue and workers will be authorized to work from 8am to 4pm those days.
PROGRESS UPDATE: During the week of October 3, Duckels Construction completed electrical, concrete and streetscape on the south side between 7th and 8th streets. Electrical duct bank work resumed, storm sewer installation was completed at the 6th Street intersection, and concrete was poured for the new raised intersection at 7th Street. A new drain was also installed in front of Sweet Pea and Sunpies.
PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETINGS: Bi-weekly public information meetings are scheduled for 9 a.m. on Fridays. The next meeting is scheduled for October 21st at Aurum Food & Wine, 811 Yampa St.
OAK STREET UPDATE:
CLOSURE WEEK OF October 10: On Monday, October 10, Oak Street will continue to have shoulder closures along the north side of the street between 3rd Street and 4th Street and for a portion of the block between 4th Street and 5th Street. The traveling public can expect to see construction occuring at the intersection corners and in front of Brio Salon and Spa. Parking will be closed along the north edge of Oak Street from 3rd Street to 4th Street near the intersection corners and for the eastern half of the block between 4th Street to 5th Street. Work in this area will include intersection corner curb and gutter, ADA accessible ramps, and intersection street light foundation installation.
Crews will continue stormsewer pipe installation along the eastern side of 5th Street between Lincoln Avenue and Oak Street. The alley connecting 4th Street and 5th Street will be closed from the 5th Street side, access to the alley will be available from 4th Street. Two way traffic will be open along 5th Street although a lane shift may be necessary. Parking along the block will be periodically closed as the drainage pipe is installed in the parking lane and to allow the lane shift in 5th Street. Work in this area will include utility relocation and stormsewer drainage infrastructure.
Toward the later half of the week, crews will need to cross Oak Street with storm sewer pipe. This will require closure of Oak Street. During this work, access to Oak Street between 4th Street and 5th Street will be limited and traffic delays should be expected.
Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas. The project team will continue to communicate with individual owners and tenants on Oak Street as work progresses.
