WeekofSept26ConstructionMap.JPG

Construction of the Yampa Street Improvements Project began May 23 and Oak Street work began September 6. Both projects will continue the week of September 26.

YAMPA STREET UPDATE:

CLOSURE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 26: Continuing on Monday, September 26, Yampa Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between 6th and 8th Streets, including both the 7th and 8th Street intersections. As work progresses throughout the week crews will reopen the 8th Street intersection to vehicular traffic and subsequently will shift the street closure to the 6th Street intersection. Portions of the sidewalk on the south side of Yampa will be closed intermittently and pedestrians will be safely routed around the sidewalk closure throughout the week. A pedestrian crossing corridor will be open between 7th and 8th Streets and the public parking lot at 7th and Yampa Street will remain open.

Maintaining access to all businesses is a priority. Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas. Shoppers and visitors are reminded that additional nearby parking is available at the 10th and Yampa Street parking lot, Rodeo Grounds parking lot and Howelsen Hill parking lots, with easy access to Yampa Street over the 9th or 5th Street bridges.

Construction work hours are from 7am to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 7am – 5pm on Fridays. Construction work on Saturdays will continue and workers will be authorized to work from 8am to 4pm those days.

PROGRESS UPDATE: During the week of September 19, Duckels Construction completed electrical, concrete and streetscape on the south side between 8th and 9th streets. Asphalt removal, duct bank installation, and storm sewer installation was also completed in the 7th Street intersection.

PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETINGS: Bi-weekly public information meetings are scheduled for
9 a.m. on Fridays. The next meeting is scheduled for October 7th at Aurum Food & Wine, 811 Yampa St.

OAK STREET UPDATE:

CLOSURE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 26: Continuing on Monday, September 26, Oak Street will have shoulder closures along the north side of the street between 3rd Street and 5th Street. Parking will be closed along the north edge of Oak Street from 3rd Street to 4th Street for the entire week and will begin to close from 4th Street to 5th Street as work progresses toward 5th Street. The traveling public can expect to see construction occuring at the intersection corners. Work for the week will include curb, gutter, sidewalk, small retaining walls, street light conduit soil boring, driveway construction, and drainage infrastructure.

Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas. The project team will continue to communicate with individual owners and tenants on Oak Street as work progresses.

PROGRESS UPDATE: During the week of September 19, Native Excavating completed reconstruction of drainage improvements at the intersection of 4th and Oak Streets and finished segments of concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter from 3rd Street to 4th Street.

A construction hotline will be updated frequently; the number to call is 970-871-7052. Information on the overall project is available on the city’s website at: www.diggindowntown.com.
