[ARCHIVED] Oak Street Construction Begins Tuesday, September 6th

Construction is set to begin on the Oak Street portion of the Downtown Improvements Plan implementation, “Diggin’ Downtown”. The City has contracted with Native Excavating and Baseline Engineering to complete this project which includes installation of curb and gutter, sidewalks, streetscape, storm sewer, and electrical conduit. The project area will include segments of Oak Street between 3rd and 12th streets with portions being completed in stages and all segments to be completed by 2018. Work will also include improvements to the 8th and Oak Street public parking lot.

Beginning Tuesday, September 6th work will begin between 3rd and 5th streets on the north side of Oak Street.

Oak Street will remain open to pedestrians and vehicular traffic throughout the majority of the project. Closures will be limited to shoulders of the road and impacts to traffic will only occur during installation of utilities.

The project team will be conducting individual meetings with property owners and outreach will be ongoing throughout the project.

A construction hotline will be updated frequently; the number to call is 970-871-7052. Information on the overall project is available on the city’s website at: www.diggindowntown.com.
