[ARCHIVED] Public Meeting on Dog Ordinances

The City is hosting a public meeting to present proposed changes to the current Steamboat Springs animal control ordinances on Tuesday, August 16th at 5:30 PM at Centennial Hall, 124 10th Street. The public is welcome and feedback is encouraged on the proposed ordinance changes. Copies of the proposed changes will be available at the meeting. Any input will be passed along to City Council members, and any changes to the ordinance will go to City Council for their approval.

Citizens will also have a chance at the meeting to give their input on ideas of increased off leash opportunities for dogs. There will be a sign-up sheet for those who wish to be a part of a committee that will research location options, private funding, and other partnerships or solutions and report back to Parks & Recreation Commission.

The City encourages all aspects of this conversation be present and express their views. “We want input from all sides of the conversation” according to Kathy Connell, a local advocate for increased off leash areas. “Steamboat is at its’ best when we collaborate and seek solutions together” she added.
