[ARCHIVED] Yampa Street Construction Update: Week of August 8th

Closure August 8 to 14

Construction of the Yampa Street Improvements Project began May 23 and will continue the week of August 8. This phase of the project will be entering its twelfth week of construction and work will be substantially completed by no later than November 24, 2016.

CLOSURE WEEK OF AUGUST 8: Beginning on Monday, August 8, Yampa Street will continue to be closed to vehicular traffic between 8th and 9th Streets, including the 9th Street intersection. The north side sidewalk on this block of Yampa Street will also be closed and pedestrians will be safely rerouted to the south side of the street. Construction work in these areas include the infrastructure necessary to support moving electric utilities, as well as some storm drainage utility work and concrete streetscape.

Additionally, the shoulder of the road will be closed near the corner of 6th and Yampa Street to allow for work on concrete streetscape in this area. Construction work in this area includes curb and gutter, a retaining wall and reconstructing a driveway at Bank of the West. Access to the Bank of the West drive-thru and parking lot will remain open and Yampa Street will remain open to both directions of traffic through this block.

Maintaining access to all businesses is a priority. Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas.

Shoppers and visitors are reminded that additional nearby parking is available at the 10th and Yampa Street parking lot, Rodeo Grounds parking lot and Howelsen Hill parking lots, with easy access to Yampa Street over the 9th or 5th Street bridges.

Construction work hours are from 7am to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 7am – 5pm on Fridays.
