Construction activities will begin at the Apres Ski Way & Village Drive intersection over the next two weeks. The City of Steamboat Springs will conduct a public information meeting for the Apres Ski Way & Village Drive Improvements Project on August 11th from 9am – 10am at the Sundowner Meeting Room at One Steamboat Place, located at 2250 Apres Ski Way
The City has contracted with Native Excavating to complete this project which includes a realignment of the Apres Ski Way & Village Drive intersection, additional vehicular lanes and new bikes lanes, a new four way stop, replacement and upsizing of existing culverts, installation of new sidewalks, a new bus stop pullout, and landscape work. This project is being financed by the City of Steamboat Springs and the Steamboat Springs Redevelopment Authority via the Urban Renewal Authority.
Activities in the coming weeks will include:
UTILITY RELOCATION: On Monday, August 1 work is scheduled to begin to relocate existing utility lines. This work is necessary in advance of reconstruction of the intersection. To facilitate this work Native Excavating will shift westbound Apres Ski Way vehicular traffic between the intersection and roundabout into the eastbound lane. Vehicular travel lanes will be open in both directions thru the work zone during this time. This shoulder closure will be in effect until September 7.
The City and Native Excavating are working with Atmos Energy, Comcast, Centurylink, Resort Internet, and Yampa Valley Electric to complete this work ahead of the commencement of the intersection project.
INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT STARTS: Beginning the week of August 15 Native Excavating will commence work on the Apres Ski Way & Village Drive Improvement Project. The work will require a road closure of Apres Ski Way between the Apres & Village intersection and the trail near the Ironwood and Phoenix properties. This closure is expected to be in place until October 13 as crews work to replace culverts crossing under Apres Ski Way in this area. During this time safe pedestrian routes will be provided around the closure and construction work areas.
Maintaining access to all businesses and lodging properties is a priority with this project. Signage and wayfinding will be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas.
PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING: A public information meeting for the Apres Ski Way & Village Drive Improvement Project will be held on August 11 from 9am – 10am at the Sundowner Meeting Room at One Steamboat Place, located at 2250 Apres Ski Way.
