Construction of the Yampa Street Improvements Project began May 23 and will continue the week of August 1. This phase of the project will be entering its eleventh week of construction and work will be substantially completed by no later than November 24, 2016.

CLOSURE WEEK OF AUGUST 1: Beginning on Monday, August 1, Yampa Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between 8th and 9th Streets, including the 9th Street intersection. During this week there will also be intermittent closures of the sidewalk on the south side of this block and pedestrians will be safely routed around to the sidewalk on the north side of this block. Additionally, the shoulder of the road will be closed between 5th and 6th Street on Yampa Street, to allow for work on concrete streetscape in this area. Vehicles and pedestrians will be safely routed around this work zone and some of the adjacent public parking spaces near Lyon’s Park will also be inaccessible during this week. Construction work in these areas include the infrastructure necessary to support moving electric utilities, as well as some storm drainage utility work and concrete streetscape.

Maintaining access to all businesses is a priority. Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas.

Shoppers and visitors are reminded that additional nearby parking is available at the 10th and Yampa Street parking lot, Rodeo Grounds parking lot and Howelsen Hill parking lots, with easy access to Yampa Street over the 9th or 5th Street bridges.

Construction work hours are from 7am to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 7am – 5pm on Fridays.

YAMPA STREET PROGRESS UPDATE: Duckels Construction is continuing work between 9th and 10th Street to install an underground conduit system that will allow electric lines to be moved underground on Yampa Street. As the work progresses Duckels will also be installing storm sewer lines and inlets. As the work reaches the 8th-9th Street block, crews will begin installing concrete curbs and gutters, as well as sidewalks and street trees and lighting.

An unrelated construction project by Fox Construction is ongoing on private property between 9th and 10th Street.
PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETINGS: Bi-weekly public information meetings are scheduled for
9 a.m. on Fridays. The next meeting is scheduled for August 12 at Aurum Food & Wine, 811 Yampa St.

A construction hotline will be updated frequently; the number to call is 970-871-7052. Information on the overall project is available on the city’s website at: www.diggindowntown.com.
