Construction of the Yampa Street Improvements Project began May 23 and will continue the week of July 25. This phase of the project will be entering its tenth week of construction and will be substantially completed by no later than November 24, 2016.

CLOSURE WEEK OF JULY 25: Beginning on Monday, July 25, Yampa Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between 9th and 10th Streets, including the 9th Street intersection. Access into the public parking lot at 9th and Yampa will be closed for a majority of the work week. Additionally, a shoulder will be closed along the 5th to 6th Street block near the intersection of 5th and Yampa Street, across the street from Steamboat Flyfisher, to allow for work on concrete streetscape in this area. Vehicles and pedestrians will be allowed to safely pass thru this work zone but some of the adjacent public parking spaces near Lyon’s Park will be closed during this week. Construction work in these areas include the infrastructure necessary to support moving electric utilities, as well as some storm drainage utility work and concrete streetscape.

Maintaining access to all businesses is a priority. Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas.

Shoppers and visitors are reminded that additional nearby parking is available at the 10th and Yampa Street parking lot, Rodeo Grounds parking lot and Howelsen Hill parking lots, with easy access to Yampa Street over the 9th or 5th Street bridges.

Construction work hours are from 7am to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 7am – 5pm on Fridays.

YAMPA STREET PROGRESS UPDATE: Duckels Construction is continuing work to install an underground conduit system that will allow electric lines to be moved underground on Yampa Street. As the work progresses Duckels will also be installing storm sewer lines and inlets. When the work reaches the 8th-9th Street block, crews will begin installing concrete cubs and gutters, as well as sidewalks and street trees and lighting.

An unrelated construction project by Fox Construction is ongoing on private property between 9th and 10th Street.
PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETINGS: Bi-weekly public information meetings are scheduled for
9 a.m. on Fridays. The next meeting is scheduled for July 29 at Aurum Food & Wine, 811 Yampa St.

A construction hotline will be updated frequently; the number to call is 970-871-7052. Information on the overall project is available on the city’s website at: www.diggindowntown.com.
