Construction of the Yampa Street Improvements Project began May 23 and will continue the week of July 18.

CLOSURE WEEK OF JULY 18: Beginning on Tuesday, July 19 Yampa Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between 9th and 11th Streets, including the 10th Street intersection. Before this closure takes effect, crews will be wrapping up work from the previous week from 11th-12th Street and that closure will remain until the construction work and closure shifts on Tuesday. Additionally, during the period of July 19 to July 22 the Core Trail will be closed for one day to pedestrians and bicyclists to allow crews to complete utility crossings going under the core trail. Pedestrians and bicyclists will be safely routed around the construction zone closure during this day. Construction work in these areas include the infrastructure necessary to support moving electric utilities, as well as some storm drainage utility work.

Maintaining access to all businesses is a priority. Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas.

Visitors to Yampa Street are reminded that additional nearby parking is available at the 10th Street lot as well as at the Howelsen Hill parking lots, with easy access to Yampa Street over the 9th Street pedestrian bridge.

Construction work hours are from 7am to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 7am – 5pm on Fridays.

YAMPA STREET PROGRESS UPDATE: Duckels Construction is continuing work to install an underground conduit system that will allow electric lines to be moved underground on Yampa Street. As the work progresses toward the southeast along Yampa Street Duckels will also be installing storm sewer lines and inlets. When the work reaches the 9th-10th Street block crews will begin installing concrete cubs and gutters and sidewalks along with street trees and lighting.

An unrelated construction project by Fox Construction is ongoing on private property between 9th and 10th Street. Work associated with this project will close access to the public parking lot at 9th and Yampa Street, next to Backdoor Sports, on Thursday, July 21.
PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETINGS: Bi-weekly public information meetings are scheduled for
9 a.m. on Fridays. The next meeting is scheduled for July 29 at Aurum Food & Wine, 811 Yampa St.

A construction hotline will be updated frequently; the number to call is 970-871-7052. Information on the overall project is available on the city’s website at: www.diggindowntown.com.
