Construction of the Yampa Street Improvements Project began May 23 and will continue the week of July 4th.

CLOSURE WEEK OF JULY 4th: All closures will be lifted July 1st thru July 4th. Beginning on Tuesday, July 5th Yampa Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between 11th and 12th Streets, including the 12th Street intersection. The 12th Street side-street will also be closed to vehicular traffic from Yampa Street up to Lincoln Avenue. Some work will also take place in a portion of Little Toots Park and core trail users will be routed around the work zone for one or two days during the work week. Utility work in the 11th to 12th Street closure area will include the infrastructure necessary to support the undergrounding of electric utilities as well as some water line and storm sewer work.

Maintaining access to all businesses is a priority. Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask that visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas.

Visitors to Yampa Street are reminded that additional nearby parking is available at the 10th Street lot as well as at the Howelsen Hill parking lots with, easy access to Yampa Street over the 9th Street pedestrian bridge.

Construction work hours are from 7am to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 7am – 5pm on Fridays. There will be no work on the 4th of July holiday.

YAMPA STREET PROGRESS UPDATE: Duckels Construction has completed all work associated with replacing an antiquated sewer main and has also completed water line valve installations and fire hydrant work in the blocks of 6th to 8th Streets. Two planned water outages this week went as scheduled restoring water service to area businesses and residents prior to projected timeline. The project also passed a formal Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) Stormwater Discharge and Construction Dewatering Discharge Permit inspection.

An unrelated construction project by Fox Construction is continuing on private property between 9th and 10th Street.

PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETINGS: Bi-weekly public information meetings are scheduled for
9 a.m. on Fridays. The next meeting is scheduled for July 15th at Aurum Food & Wine, 811 Yampa St.

A construction hotline will be updated frequently; the number to call is 970-871-7052. Information on the overall project is available on the city’s website at: www.diggindowntown.com.
