[ARCHIVED] Scofflaw List Notices Being Sent Out

The Municipal Court Administrator will be distributing notices to the owners of vehicles on the City’s Scofflaw list. The Scofflaw list is comprised of those vehicles that have received multiple parking violations but have not paid their fines. The notices will go out to violators who have had multiple violations in the past 6 months. Those owners will have an opportunity to pay their fines. Those owners who do not pay their fines will be subject to an immobilization device or towed to an impound lot until the fines are paid. Additionally, notices for the 2015 violations will be sent out and those tickets that remain unpaid will be sent to a collection agency.

The current Scofflaw list is made up of 43 different license plates totaling 133 parking tickets. The biggest violator has 21 separate parking tickets in the past 6 months. Most of the violators have between 2 and 5 tickets.

“Parking in the Downtown area is a serious concern for citizens and business owners”, Chief Christensen said, “those on the scofflaw list are one group who is repeatedly taking up spaces and disregarding the needs of other citizens and visitors who wish to utilize our vibrant downtown area.”

Those who receive notices can contact the Municipal Court Administrator directly at (970) 871-8277. Additionally, those who wish to pay their parking tickets online can now do so by visiting the Municipal Court website at www.steamboatsprings.net.
