Construction of the Yampa Street Improvements Project began May 23 and will continue the week of June 27th.
CLOSURE WEEK OF JUNE 27: Yampa Street will continue to be closed to vehicular traffic between 6th and 8th Streets, including the 7th Street intersection, until July 1st. On June 29th and June 30th, a portion of 7th Street from Yampa Street up to the public parking lot at 7th Street will be closed to vehicular traffic. Access into the parking lot will remain open from 7th Street. On Monday, June 27th a fire hydrant installation will require a one day closure to the entrance of the public parking lot at the intersection of 9th Street and Yampa Street. On July 1st, crews will be cleaning the area and removing fencing from the closure area in anticipation of the July 4th weekend. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the project.
Maintaining access to all businesses is a priority. Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, visitors, employees and residents are encouraged to respect all closures and to use the designated detours and parking areas.
Work hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.
Visitors to Yampa Street are reminded that additional nearby parking is available at the 10th Street lot as well as at the Howelsen Hill parking lots with, easy access to Yampa Street over the 9th Street pedestrian bridge.
YAMPA STREET PROGRESS UPDATE: Duckels Construction has completed all work associated with replacing the antiquated sanitary sewer main line. Only one sewer service remains to be completed. Repaving of the roadway has begun in those areas previously affected by construction. Work for the week of June 27th will include water line valve installation as well as fire hydrant improvements and storm sewer installations. On Tuesday, June 28th and Wednesday, June 29th, temporary water shutdowns will be necessary to install and abandon fire hydrants near the intersection of 7th and Yampa Streets. Residents and business that may be affected by the shutdown have been notified in writing. Improvements to the existing stormwater conveyance infrastructure are also planned at the 7th Street intersection.
An unrelated construction project by Fox Construction is continuing on private property between 9th and 10th Street.
