[ARCHIVED] Yampa Street Construction Update -- Work to Begin Week of May 16th

Steamboat Springs, Colorado — Construction activities will begin in earnest on Yampa Street over the next two weeks, and the City of Steamboat Springs will conduct a public information meeting for the Yampa Street Improvement Project on May 20th.

Activities will include:

CLOSURE WEEK OF MAY 16: Beginning the week of May 16th, Yampa Street on the 9th to 10th Street block will be closed to vehicular traffic (including the public parking lot at 9th and Yampa Streets) as Fox Construction crews perform work associated with private redevelopment at 910 Yampa Street. The City and Duckels Construction will also begin initial mobilization work on the City’s Yampa Street Improvement Project in the same area and will be collaborating with private development crews during the first few weeks of construction. The intersections at 9th and Yampa and 10th and Yampa will remain open during this initial closure.

YAMPA STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT STARTS: Beginning the week of May 23rd Duckels Construction will commence work on the Yampa Street Improvement Project, starting with the sewer main replacement which begins at 10th Street. The sewer main work is expected to wrap up before July 1st. Starting May 23rd, Yampa Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 9th to 11th, including the 10th and Yampa intersection and the 9th Street Parking Lot. The intersections of 11th and 9th St. on Yampa St. will remain open to vehicular travel. Minimal pedestrian impacts are expected during the course of the sewer main replacement work which concludes at the 7th St. intersection. Upon completion of the sewer main work, construction crews plan to relocate to the area near Little Toots Parks and will work through the summer along Yampa Street on utility undergrounding, drainage, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and landscaping elements.

PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING: A public information meeting for the Yampa Street Improvement Project will be held on May 20th from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. in Citizens Meeting Room at Centennial Hall, located at 124 10th Street. Additional project details will be available at this meeting. Regular public construction updates will be scheduled throughout the project. Dates and locations will be announced once confirmed.
