[ARCHIVED] Bear River Park Master Plan - Community Open House

The City of Steamboat Springs, in conjunction with the National Parks Service, is working to update the Bear River Park master plan, and will be hosting a series of open houses to present information regarding the project and solicit public feedback.

The first open house will take place this coming Thursday, February 11th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Community Center (1605 Lincoln Avenue). Anyone who is interested in learning more about the project, and would like to provide ideas on potential future uses, is encouraged to attend.

The goal of this planning effort is to create a viable, financially feasible master plan for the site and to guide the next phase of improvements to the park. This plan is an update to the 2004 park master plan and will incorporate the most efficient, sustainable and desirable uses of the park space, through extensive community participation. The end result will be a park that is consistently used by a diverse array of park users and will be one that is supported and stewarded by the community.

The Yampa Valley serves many recreational user groups and provides all residents and visitors with a natural scenic landscape to explore. This planning process will provide a forum for the evaluation of all ideas and comments which will lead to the development of preferred design alternatives for the space.

Public outreach and communication will occur through a number of outlets, including, three public open houses, news media, the City of Steamboat Springs website, surveys and online engagement. For more information contact Craig Robinson at
