[ARCHIVED] Open House on Yampa Street Improvements

Yampa Street Sketch

On Thursday, January 21st, the City of Steamboat Springs and its project team will hold a public open house to discuss planning of the Yampa Street improvements. The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the downtown fire station located at 840 Yampa St.

The Yampa Street improvements are part of the bigger overall Downtown Improvement Plan that has been presented to the community in various iterations over the past 30 years. The current plan has been created using input from business owners, planning groups, consultants and community members and includes infrastructure improvements along Oak and Yampa Streets and side-streets between 3rd and 12th street.

On Thursday, January 21st the community has an opportunity to come meet with City officials and the project team to learn more about the improvements planned for Yampa Street and to discuss the project design and construction timetable. “The open house setting will also provide the public with an opportunity to submit comments about the project that could be useful in developing the final design and planning for the construction of the project which we anticipate will begin in April of this year,” said Danny Paul, engineer with the City’s Public Works Department and project manager for the Yampa Street work. The project team will also schedule one-on-one meetings with interested parties who might not be able to attend the open house or who would like to discuss the plan in more detail. In addition, the public may track updates on the project at the project website at: www.steamboatsprings.net/yampastreet

For more information about the open house or for scheduling a one-on-one meeting, please contact City staff engineer and project manager Danny Paul at 970-871-8210.
