The City of Steamboat Springs has finalized a deal to sell the Iron Horse property to SwedProperty, LLC for $2.65 Million. The deal, which closed this week, also includes an additional $400,000 paid to an escrow account to be used for public benefit projects. Local representatives on the project are Jon W. Sanders and Brandon Dardanis with Ski Town Commercial, LLC.
The new owners plan to maintain the use of the Iron Horse building as workforce housing, but also to use some of the rooms as short term “hostel” units. Over time they intend to renovate the interior and exterior of the property. In addition their proposal details potential for retail space on the property, while also increasing recreational amenities such as park benches, picnic tables and gas fire pit, and constructing a trail connection from Hwy 40 to the Yampa River Core Trail and the river.
