Public Safety Services Director/Police Chief Joe Rae has tendered his resignation to the City Manager effective August 28, 2015. Rae, a police officer with the City of Louisville, CO, joined the Steamboat Springs Police Department in July, 1996. In 1997, Rae rose to the rank of Sergeant and was again promoted in 2004 to the rank of Captain. Upon the retirement of former Police Chief JD Hays in January, 2012, Rae was promoted to Public Safety Services Director. “The City Management Team will miss Chief Rae’s humor, friendship and leadership,” said City Manager, Deb Hinsvark. Council President, Bart Kounovsky added, “I would like to thank Chief Rae for his many years of service to the community and I wish him well in his future endeavors.”
