Drivers in Steamboat Springs will see two new intersection improvements over the next couple of weeks. On June 19th (weather permitting), the intersections at Walton Creek and Whistler Roads, and at Mt. Werner Road and the eastbound off-ramp from Highway 40 will both see new all-way stops. Public Works employees evaluated the traffic counts at these locations and realized the critical need for this project.
Currently the locations both have free flowing traffic on one street, with stop signs on the intersecting street. During high commuter traffic times, cars have extensive delays at the stop signs waiting for an opening to turn into traffic.
