[ARCHIVED] 5th Street Stormwater Project Underway

The City of Steamboat Springs and Duckels Construction will begin construction on a Stormwater Treatment Project at 5th and Yampa Streets starting Tuesday, May 26th. Two-way traffic will be maintained between Yampa and Lincoln Avenue, however some parking will be closed. Vehicular traffic using River Road and 5th Street should expect periodic delays, and there may be pedestrian and bicycle detours during certain phases of constructions. The public is urged to use caution and please slow down for the cone zone.

The project will include the installation of an underground stormwater treatment device in-line with the existing storm sewer along 5th Street between Yampa Street and the alley. Once complete, this project will help to remove litter, oil, sediment, and other pollutants from stormwater runoff before it discharges into the Yampa River.

Construction is expected to last until June 5th, 2015 depending on weather conditions and work progress.

Please contact the City’s Project Manager, Kelly Heaney at (970)871-8205 with any questions regarding this project.
