[ARCHIVED] Highway 40 Project Updates for the Week of October 13th, 2014

Major Resurfacing, Concrete, & traffic signal Improvements on US Hwy 40 East and West of Downtown Steamboat Springs
Week of Oct 13th, 2014

The project limits of this phase are between M.P. 130 and 135 or from Walton Creek Road to Elk River Road Intersection.

Current work for this week include installing at these locations (Walton Creek Intersections) are the various concrete curb & gutter, sidewalk, ADA curb ramp improvements at Walton Creek Intersection.
During construction work will be near or around existing sidewalks but the sidewalks are still OPEN. Also please continue to use both lanes to the merge point and then politely merge over.
Below are the more specific work zones that can be expected and side streets impacted at these intersections.

• Shoulder Closures at Walton Creek intersection for concrete removal and replacement.
• SPECIAL NOTICE: We will begin paving again Oct 13th but this will be during DAYTIME HOURS due to colder temperatures in October. Traffic will be ALL diverted onto one half of the highway with the work zone being on the other half. Long Delays can be expected. Please plan your trips accordingly.


During the project, motorists can expect various alternating single-lane, multiple lane shifts or closures, NO WORK will be performed from 13th to 3rd street. Monday through Friday, with some weekend work possible, from 7 A.M. to 5 P.M. Delays are expected to be about 15-25 minutes from one end to the other. And 7 PM to 7 AM during the night closures.
