[ARCHIVED] Highway 40 CDOT Project Notice for Week of September 15th

Major Resurfacing, Concrete, & Traffic Signal Improvements on US Hwy 40 East and West of Downtown Steamboat Springs for the Week of Sept 15th, 2014

The project limits of this phase are between M.P. 30 and 35 or from Walton Creek Road to Elk River Road Intersection.

Current work for this month include installing new traffic signal conduits at Pine Grove Road Also being installed at these locations are the various concrete curb & gutter, sidewalk, ADA curb ramp improvements as well as center median concrete removal and replacement from 3rd St to Hilltop Intersection as well as center median work from 3rd St to Anglers Intersection. Continuing the week of September 15th Night work will start from 7:00 pm to 7:00 AM beginning from West at Elk River Rd to the east to Anglers Intersection.

During construction work will be near or around existing sidewalks but the sidewalks are still OPEN. Also please continue to use both lanes to the merge point and then politely merge over.

Below are the more specific work zones that can be expected and side streets impacted at these intersections.
• Shoulder & Median Closures from 3rd street to Hilltop for concrete removal and replacement.
• Eastbound & Westbound alternating lanes from 3rd street to Anglers intersection, Paving new asphalt at NIGHT.

During the project, motorists can expect various alternating single-lane, multiple lane shifts or closures, turn lane closures at elk river road to dream island, Hilltop and Anglers intersections. NO WORK will be performed from 13th to 3rd street. Monday through Friday, with some weekend work possible, from 7 A.M. to 5 P.M. Delays are expected to be about 10-20 minutes from one end to the other. And 7 PM to 7 AM during the night closures.
