The City of Steamboat Springs would like to remind everyone that the recycling containers located at the Parks & Recreation building, the Rodeo Grounds, and Howelsen Hill are not for public use. The containers have been locked until further notice. People wanting to recycle materials have several other options including:
Waste Management, Downhill Drive - Monday through Friday – Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Wednesdays will have extended hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. until Winter. The cost to recycle materials is free to Waste Management customers and $5 for others.
Twin Enviro Services – Milner Landfill will be open 9:00 am to 3:00 pm accepting multi-stream items, through the end of October. Winter hours will be 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. There is a fee of $1 to $5 depending on the volume to be recycled.
In addition, Yampa Valley Sustainability Council will be hosting a “Community Recycling Event” at Howelsen Hill on Saturday, October 4th and will be accepting a wide range of recyclable items including electronics, fluorescent light bulbs, scrap metal and more.
