[ARCHIVED] SSFR Responds To Structure Fire At 32760 County Road 41

Structure Fire CR 41 - News Flash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-April 22, 2024-At 11:34 PM on Sunday, April 21, Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue (SSFR) was dispatched by Routt County Communications Center (RCCC) to 32760 County Road 41 for a structure fire.

The house was occupied by one person who was forced to evacuate to a deck on the second story of the house due to smoke and flames. SSFR responded with Engine 6-1, Engine 6-2, Tender 6-1, Ambulance 6-4, Staff 6-2, Staff 6-3, and mutual aid Water Tender 851 from Oak Creek Fire Protect District (OCFPD).

Upon arrival on the scene in Engine 6-1, Lt. Chris Welch reported a large three-story structure with the top floor fully involved. Crews were able to locate the occupant of the house on the roof of the structure and rescue him using a ground ladder. The occupant was treated for minor injuries on the scene and subsequently released.

A defensive strategy was put in place to ensure the fire did not extend to the brush and trees around the home. Hoses were deployed from the first arriving engine to keep the fire contained to the house.

Fire equipment and staff will be on the scene intermittently throughout the day to ensure the fire remains controlled. Smoke will continue to be in the area for some time due to the rural nature of the site and the limited water available due to the lack of pressurized hydrants.

The cause of the fire is unknown and will be under investigation by Routt County Sheriff’s Office and Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue Fire Marshall Office. Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance Routt County Communications, Routt County Sheriff’s Office, and Oak Creek Fire Protection District.

  • Alarm Type: Structure Fire
