  • US Highway 40 between Craig and Steamboat remains open in both directions to all traffic.

  • Native Excavating will be dumping sand only in the big lot of the Community Center (1605 Lincoln Ave) and the Knoll Parking Lot (2305 Mt. Werner Circle) at the Steamboat Ski Area for people to fill their own sandbags. Individuals must purchase bags, bring them to station and fill the bags themselves. 
  • In addition, the city has its traditional spring sand stations at Staley Park, Short & James Streets and Crawford & Pahwintah Streets ready under normal use agreement.

  • SST Service Alert - NO Regional Service from Steamboat Springs to Craig this evening. The current detour is approved for passenger vehicles only and SST will continue to monitor the situation

  • Per CDOT, Highway 40 between Hayden and Steamboat open to local traffic only including traffic to and from Yampa Valley Regional Airport.

  • SST Regional Service is NOT operating today due to US40 Closure.

  • Per Steamboat Springs School District - Flooding on Highway 40 Impacting School Transportation - Due to delays from road closures on Highway 40, please be advised of potential impacts on school bus transportation routes. Students will be excused for being late or absent due to the road impacts. Sleeping Giants School students should expect delays getting to school.  Any students on the west side of town who ride routes 7 or 14 will be delayed getting to school. An alternative form of transportation is recommended for students from the Sleepy Bear mobile home park. Our transportation teams are out and doing their best to get students to school. We appreciate your patience, and please stay safe getting to school!

  • Highway 40 closed from mile marker 92 to mile marker 130. Motorists advised to seek alternative routes.
