The City of Steamboat has published the preliminary November 2013 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. City of Steamboat Springs’ November sales taxes are 5.38% greater than the November 2012 collections. Year-to-date through November the City sales tax continues to be up by more than 6% when compared to the same period in 2012. All industry categories saw increases over November 2012, most significantly in Lodging and Sporting Goods. The Regional area saw the largest increase with 23.25% over the same month last year.
Accommodation Tax collections increased more than 35% when compared to last November, reflecting the strong Lodging numbers. This brings the total amount collected in 2013 through November to more than $600,000.
The Local Marketing District Air Service Sales Tax, with a rate of .25%, saw a year-to-date increase of almost 13% compared to the same time period in 2012.
Building Use Tax is used to fund capital projects for the City of Steamboat Springs. This tax fluctuates depending on building permits issued, use tax audits completed, and the size and number of developments in the City. Compared to the prior year’s numbers, the City has collected $258,596 more than through the same point in 2012. The City has exceeded the 2013 budgeted revenue for building use tax.
