STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-June 15, 2022-The city has published the Final April 2022 sales, use, and accommodation tax report. The April 2022 sales taxes for the City of Steamboat Springs are 5.24% higher compared to the April 2021 collections or an increase of $96,969. 

Year-to-date sales tax collection is 30.96% more than year to date through the same period last year. For the past 5 years, April collections represent about 5% of annual collections. 

When comparing this April to the same month last year the notable increases in collections by category are in construction & home improvement at 17.85%, utilities 15.58%, and restaurants at 6.81% over last April. Increases in collections by area were seen in the Out of Town, West Steamboat, and Regional categories.

Accommodation Tax is primarily dedicated to local trail projects. A small amount each year is dedicated towards the marketing of these projects and capital improvements at Haymaker. April collections were down 6.84% compared to the same period last year. Year-to-date accommodation tax collection is 59.64% more than the same period last year.

Building Use Tax is used to fund capital projects for the City of Steamboat Springs. This tax fluctuates depending on building permits issued, use tax reconciliations completed, and the size and number of developments in the City. April net use tax collections total $146,260.
