Chili Challenge NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-May 27, 2022-The 17th Annual Main Street Steamboat Springs Downtown Chili Challenge is spicing things up with a new spring date, Sunday, May 29, 2022, but the same traditional ingredients will tantalize the tastebuds of chili connoisseurs.

During the one-day event, Yampa Street between 6th to 7th Streets will be closed as well as 7th Street from Lincoln Avenue to Yampa St from approximately 9am to 5pm.

The Chili Challenge opens to the public at 11am with results announced later that afternoon. Live music will play throughout the event which runs until 3pm.

The Chili Challenge sees the finest chefs, from restaurants to individuals, cook up their finest chili to see who takes home awards for the top red chili, green chili, salsa, and corn bread.

Tasting kits can be purchased which provide serving cups, spoons, and the valuable tickets to vote for People’s Choice Award. Proceeds from the Challenge support the programs of Main Street Steamboat Springs.

Main Street Steamboat Springs was named a Colorado Main Street Community in 2006, following a rigorous application and evaluation process with the state coordinating program, Colorado Community Revitalization Association, Inc. In each of the years since its acceptance to the program, Main Street Steamboat Springs has qualified for national recognition as an Accredited Main Street community and is recognized by the state as a Graduate Community, setting an example for other Main Street Districts.
