Spring/Summer Construction Update
City & Other Agencies Undertaking Vital Infrastructure Enhancements
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-April 14,2022-Various projects across the city are moving through different phases as work focuses on improvements and infrastructure enhancements. The following provides a brief update on city and non-city projects. All projects are weather dependent.
Mt. Werner/Steamboat Blvd Roundabout
City of Steamboat Springs-Steamboat Springs Redevelopment Authority
Work on the Mt. Werner Road/Steamboat Blvd Roundabout will resume the week of April 18, weather permitting. This is a continuation of the work that began in 2021 and will include the installation of irrigation systems and landscaping. In addition, a new sidewalk will be installed along the north side of Mt. Werner Road to connect Montview Lane with Pine Grove Road.
Motorist should anticipate a closure of one of the downhill (westbound) lanes during the work and a shoulder closure in the area between Montview Lane and Pine Grove Road. Mt. Werner Road will remain open throughout the project and motorists are asked to slow down and use caution when entering the area.
Project completion is slated for late-June, pending no major weather delays.
Complete Streets - Mt. Werner Circle/Eagleridge Drive
City of Steamboat Springs - Steamboat Springs Redevelopment Authority
The Complete Streets project at Mt. Werner Circle and Eagleridge Drive is set to begin the week of April 18, weather permitting. This project features a new public sidewalk adjacent to the Knoll Parking Lot, which will connect the parking lot to existing sidewalks in the area. The project will also include landscaping and lighting improvements.
Work for the Complete Streets project will require a single lane closure of Mt. Werner Circle in the immediate vicinity of the project. The westbound lane will be closed starting the week of April 18 and continue until early June. Work will then shift to the south side, which will require a closure of the eastbound lane of Mt. Werner Circle between Eagleridge Drive and Après Ski Way from early June through mid-July. During this time, motorists will need to detour around these closure areas using Mt. Werner Circle or adjacent streets such as Eagleridge Drive and Village Drive.
Both projects are being funded by the Steamboat Springs Redevelopment Authority and the work is being done by Duckels Construction. The project team will be hosting information meetings which are open to the public. The first meeting will be held virtually this Friday, April 15 at 8:00 AM. A link to the virtual meeting can be found at engagesteamboat.net/roundabout or you can obtain a meeting invite in advance by calling 970-871-8272.
In addition, Yampa Valley Electric Association has significant projects this spring/summer that will take place in the mountain area and surrounding streets. Please contact YVEA for more information on these projects.
