STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-January 25, 2022-Free KN95 masks from 3M are being distributed to the community through the City of Steamboat Springs City Hall and the Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue Mountain Fire Station as part of a public supply order through the State of Colorado.
“Knowing our community is interested in doing all it can to help protect each other and especially those in the high-risk category, the city was able to secure an order of these high-grade masks,” commented Fire Chief Chuck Cerasoli. “Along with vaccinations, the use of a mask is a strong tool in avoiding infection.”
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, January 26, the higher grade KN95 mask will be available at both locations from Monday through Thursday from 8am to 5pm and from 8am to 11:30am on Friday. Masks are being provided for free and limited to five masks per person to ensure the allotment is spread across the community to the greatest number of people possible
Masks can be found at the reception area at City Hall (137 10th St) and will be outside the main office entrance at the Mountain Fire Station (2600 Pine Grove Rd). Masks will be provided while supplies last.
The Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) is providing masks to help curb the spread of the COVID-19, including the recent rise from the omicron variant. The distribution effort is part of a statewide push for people to upgrade their cloth mask to the more effective surgical ones. N95 and KN95 respirator masks are rated to capture 95% of tiny particles (0.3-micron particles).
