[ARCHIVED] Water Break

Water Break NewsFlash

UPDATE @ 7pm - Unfortunately, the repair failed and the city crew is going to have to take additional steps to replace some of the pipe so the fix will take another 2-3 hours. We appreciate everyone's patience and apologize for the delay.

UPDATE @ 5pm - City crews located the break and are in the process of repairing it; the estimated time to complete the repair and fully restore water service is between 2 and 3 hours.  Downtown residents will likely experience discolored water this evening; to clear the discoloration residents should run cold water through a bathtub faucet for about 10 minutes, if the water has not cleared after 10 minutes they should turn off the water an repeat the process again in an hour until clear.  The discoloration is due to iron sediment in the water pipes and while aesthetically unpleasant it is not harmful to drink.

UPDATE @ 10:40am - Pahwintah Street closed between Merritt Street and Deerfoot Arts Park Drive as crews continue to work on the water break.

Initial Report - City crews are working a water main break in the area and water is currently out for residences in the Pahwintah, Yahominte and Douglas Streets. No estimated time for restoring service at this time.
