STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-July 4, 2021 at 6:15AM- With additional heavy traffic through Steamboat Springs from the CDOT I-70 closure in Glenwood Canyon due to the ongoing mud slides, Steamboat Springs’ July 4th Parade will move from Lincoln Avenue to Yampa Street.
US40 is being used as the alternative route for travelers effected by the I-70 closure in Glenwood Canyon. The increase in traffic volume from the reroute could not be accommodated by the Oak Street Detour. As a result, Lincoln Avenue will remain open and continue to serve as CDOT’s alternative route, and the parade will now be on Yampa Street.
The parade will head east on Yampa Street, starting at 10th Street and traveling to 5th Street. Floats and parade entries will then exit the parade route by using the 5th Street Bridge to the Howelsen Rodeo grounds to pack up. 5th Street and the bridge will be closed for the duration of the event.
Float staging will take place on 11th and 12th Streets between Yampa and Lincoln. Spectators should line up along either side of Yampa Street to enjoy the signature event, which features more than 40 entries.
SST service will move back to Lincoln Ave since the Oak Street Closure will not be implemented. Mask are required on all public transportation including SST.
All other July 4th events and festivities will proceed as scheduled.
