Muddy Slide Fire - June 23 @ 9am

Located: 18 nautical miles west of Kremmling
Started: June 20, 2021, 3:00 p.m.
Size: 1,025 acres
Cause: Unknown
Personnel: 101, including 3 crews, 7 engines, 3 Type 1 helicopters, 1 Type 3 helicopter.  

The Rocky Mountain Blue Type 2 incident management team has been ordered. Additional resources are on order including eight more hand crews. 

The fire became very active yesterday afternoon with crowning, wind driven runs and long-range spotting, spreading south and southeast. It continued to burn actively throughout the night. 

The Routt County Sheriff's office upgraded the voluntary evacuation to a mandatory evacuation last night for residents on County Rd 16 between mile marker 12 and mile marker 21.  

Crews will continue to work along the active fire perimeter with support from aerial resources.  

The fire area remains under a Red Flag Warning through 9PM tonight. Relative humidities remain very low at 12-17 percent and winds will be westerly at 8-12 mph, gusts up to 20 mph. 

The evacuation shelter is located at the Soroco High School in Oak Creek. The Hayden Fairgrounds in Hayden is taking livestock and the Routt County Humane Society at 760 Critter Court in Steamboat Springs will take pets, but you MUST call 970-879-1090 before heading out to ensure someone will be on site.
