[ARCHIVED] Dust Abatement Treatment Closes Fetcher Park Road

Fetcher Park Road 2 NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-June 16, 2021-One of the few dirt roads within the city, Fetcher Park Road, will close tomorrow for dust mitigation treatment from approximately 6pm, Thursday, June 17, until 10am, Friday, June 18. The road will reopen ahead of the weekend.

During road closure, there is no parking in the area and all vehicles must be off the road and adjoining parking area by Thursday, 6/17, at 6pm. Vehicles left after the closure may be towed. The park and public restroom will remain accessible; however, pedestrian and bike access will only be available from the Yampa River Core Trail.

Fetcher Park Road provides access to the city park, Fetcher Park, including the pond, picnic area and public restrooms. In addition, many people use this area to enter the Yampa River for tubing, kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing.

Crews will apply a treatment to reduce the airborne dust which is a result of increased traffic in the area. The work will take place during the early morning hours and the road will be allowed to dry, which enhances its effectiveness and duration. Please refrain from using the road until Friday morning.

Additional access to the Yampa River is available through River Creek Park, Rotary Park and Emerald Park.
