[ARCHIVED] Bear River Bike Park Project Reinvigorates Jump Line

Bike Park NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-April 29, 2021-The city’s trail crew and Evolution Sports, LLC, will be lining up its sights on the Bear River Bike Park jump line and undertaking a week-long project to rebuild the jumps.

“Increased usage coupled with drought conditions and reduced maintenance due to the pandemic took its toll on the park this past year,” said Open Space & Trails Supervisor Jenny Carey. “We’re excited to get back in the park and be working with a professional to see these features get back up to specs.”

The rehabilitation project is scheduled to take place starting Monday, May 3, and run through Friday, May 7. Under the direction of Trevyn Newpher with Evolution Sports, the team will rebuild the jumps as close as possible to the original standards with the goal of making the jump line safe, fun and enjoyable.

Community involvement is welcome and anyone interested in volunteering for the project should contact Routt County Riders, rcriders@routtcountyriders.org or Jenny Carey, jcarey@steamboatsprings.net, in the city’s Parks & Recreation department.

In addition, community members can show up after 4pm each afternoon during the week to help ride the jumps and offer feedback on the team’s progress.

Built in 2013 and funded by IMBA, Bell Helmets, Routt County Riders and the city, the Bear River Bike Park is suitable for the entire family from adventurous youngsters to adrenaline seekers. Kids can also get into the action with progressive terrain, from a small pump track to a gradually building lineup of berms and jumps.
