[ARCHIVED] Paving & Striping Program Returns In Mid-May

Paving 2021 NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-April 27, 2021-The City of Steamboat Springs will begin its annual paving and striping program on May 17, with paving expected to be completed around mid-June, followed by striping efforts beginning June 14 and completed around June 18.

“The paving program was significantly reduced last year due to the pandemic and budget cuts across the city,” commented Streets Superintendent David Van Winkle. “We’re looking forward to nearly doubling the amount of asphalt in the program this summer as we work to ensure our roadways stay in top shape.”

City staff will work to minimize disruptions; however, residents are asked to please be patient as delays and/or detours could be encountered during the project. In addition, weather may cause delays and/or rescheduling.

United Companies, which was awarded the contract, will apply approximately 10,000 tons of asphalt across 27 city streets as part of the program.

In addition, the project covers nearly 750,000 square feet with a two-inch lift, typical across the region for strength requirements associated with traffic loading.

The following streets or sections of streets are scheduled to be re-paved or receive a surface treatment:
