[ARCHIVED] Rodeo Grounds Paving Project Bust Out of Chutes Next Week

Rodeo Paving NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-April 8, 2021-In the works for several years, the Rodeo Grounds Parking Lot Improvements Project is anticipated to kick off construction as early as Monday, April 12, and will last throughout the summer wrapping up towards the end of October 2021.

The overall improvements consist of paving the eastern side of the existing gravel lot including drainage infrastructure, stormwater quality facilities, sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping. In addition, the site will be prepped for electric vehicle charging stations for the public, bringing the City of Steamboat Springs closer to achieving goals set in the recently adopted Electric Vehicle (EV) Readiness Plan.

Construction will begin at the intersection adjacent to the northwest corner of the Rodeo Grounds Facility which will include a closure of that intersection until the end of May. A detour will allow bikes, pedestrians, and vehicles access to Howelsen Hill.

The remaining work will be contained within the Rodeo Grounds Facility with limited impacts to travelers. The Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series recently announced its summer schedule, and the project team is working with event organizers to ensure the pickup men are only needed inside the arena.

The project is partially fund by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) through the Congestion Mitigation Air Quality Grant (CMAQ) which aims to assist in efforts that contribute to air quality and congestion improvements.
